The GUPUS Accessible Rickshaw Project is an innovative initiative designed to create sustainable employment opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) while addressing their mobility challenges. Recognizing the barriers that PWDs face in securing decent livelihoods, this project equips individuals with customized rickshaws that are adapted for ease of use, ensuring both independence and income generation.
Why the Accessible Rickshaw Project?
In Bangladesh, persons with disabilities often struggle to find stable employment due to mobility limitations and societal stigma. Public transportation and conventional work environments are not always accommodating to their needs. The Accessible Rickshaw Project provides a dual solution—ensuring a dignified source of income while enhancing mobility through specially designed rickshaws tailored for PWDs.
