Bangladesh is a third-world developing country. The majority of the country's people live in rural areas. This rural population is deprived of various civic benefits due to a lack of modern education and ignorance. Lack of information technology knowledge and an underdeveloped communication system all due to economic weakness make their standard of living poor. On the other hand, about 15 (fifteen) percent of people in Bangladesh like developing countries have some form of disability. Constantly, People are getting disabilities due to various accidents and old age.
Goalanda
Upazila is a sub-district of the Rajbari district in the southwestern part of
Bangladesh an area affected by flood and river erosion. Geographically a total
area of 2179 square km of Paturia and Daulatdia of the said sub-district is
affected by the river of Padma. Due to floods and other calamities, about 1
lakh people of this district are living in extreme misery. Almost 90% of the
people are engaged in agriculture for livelihood as no mills have been set up
in this region. However, every year due to flood and river erosion, they suffer
huge economic losses. On the other hand, the people of this area are becoming
economically weaker day by day due to a lack of construction mills, factories,
and other sources of work as per as demand.
On
the other hand, people with disabilities are lives the most inhumane and
miserable life during floods, river bursts, and natural disasters. There are more than four thousand
people with disabilities in this region.
Due to the port area, there are about eight hundred mobile people with
disabilities.
Therefore,
the organization started a walk about 150 Persons With Disabilities with local
people since 2010 with the aim of ensuring socio-economic development and
establishing civic rights and benefits for backward people with disabilities,
underdeveloped and property-stricken. After overcoming many hurdles Goalanda Upazila
Protibondhi Unnayan Sangstha was established on 01/01/2021 by consisting of
people from all walks of life in the sub-district Goalanda under Rajbari
district, that's sort name is "GUPUS". At that time, GUPUS was
working the only area of Daulatdia Ghat with the aim of realizing the rights of
the members. Its activities are gradually expanded. The members of the
organization stand by each other and extend a helping hand to helpless people
in the face of various dangers. Members of the organization p Local people were impressed by
their activities and practices and came forward to support the development of

on a cooperative basis to change their fortunes and develop the organization. It
was registered on 26/08/2021 by the Directorate of Social Services of Ministry
of Social Welfare of Bangladesh on the basis of satisfactory activities.
